Greetings friends and neighbors,
I mentioned to some of you in our Christmas card that I ran the Lost Lake Cystic Fibrosis fund raiser in August of 2012.
As I plodded along reading the motivating bios of children with this literally “sucky” disease on signs along the trail, I wasn’t wishing that I had trained better; I was disappointed that I hadn’t made more of an effort to fund raise. My time? WHO GIVES A FUND! It’s a fund raiser! The run isn’t about the Joint Effort P.T. team time standing; it’s a fund raiser!
Please help us reach our goal of setting a wildly successful baseline fund raising effort to beat in future efforts. Please go to our fund raising site at http://www.crowdrise.com/teamjointeffort or write a check now and return it to my address today (I’ve procrastinated, what a surprise.). If you have a healthy child, give till it hurts. If you are lucky enough to have a bunch of healthy children, give till it really hurts!
Finally, while I plodded along, I couldn’t help but think that if we all did just a little more to take care of ourselves and our lifestyle choice diseases there would be a lot more public funds available for the research and treatment of genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis, which have nothing to do with choice. So in the words of one of my favorite Canadian sports medicine and public health physicians:
“Try to limit your sitting around and lying around to twenty three and a half hours a day.”
-Karim Kahn, M.D.
My best to you and yours,
Please feel welcome to pass this on to people I may not even know. I’m not after them for their time, I’m after them for their MONEY!
